Vegan Coconut Bacon

Crispy, savory, smokey and a little sweet, this vegan coconut bacon is made with 5 easy ingredients and is ready in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp tamari
  • 2 & 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Then, add all of the ingredients to a medium bowl and stir well.
  • Lay the coconut bacon on the baking sheet in an even layer and bake on the middle rack for 7 minutes. Then, remove from the oven, flip, and bake for another 7-8 minutes until the coconut starts to turn a deep golden brown color and the edges look crispy.
    This will result in some chewier pieces and some crispier pieces. Bake a little less for more chewy, or bake a little more for more crispy pieces.
    Note: watch this very closely because the coconut bacon can burn very fast!
  • Cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy! The coconut bacon will crisp as it cools.

Notes

  • Make sure to use coconut flakes, not shredded coconut (unsweetened!)
