A comforting, warming and decadent vegan chai dark hot chocolate
Where are my tea lovers at? I LOVE a good chai tea. I usually have one every morning. Paired with almond milk, so good. Warming, comforting and delicious.
I never paired chai with chocolate before but let me tell you, wow, I’m so glad I did!
This vegan chai dark hot chocolate is super easy to make and takes about 10 minutes.
The stars of the show here are dark chocolate chips and coconut milk. The dark chocolate makes this so rich and decadent while the coconut milk adds the perfect creamy texture.
I hope my chai tea and chocolate lovers love this one. This makes the perfect cozy afternoon drink but would also make a delicious dessert!

Vegan Chai Dark Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup canned full-fat coconut milk
- 1 & 1/2 cups almond milk
- 2 & 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1-2 tbsp maple syrup (use only 1 if you don’t want it too sweet)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Add coconut milk and chocolate chips to a medium saucepan and heat over low-medium, stirring every few minutes with a whisk until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Add remaining ingredients, stirring very well with a whisk until completely smooth.
- Serve immediately and top with extra chocolate chips or vegan whipped cream.
