Crispy, savory, smokey and a little sweet, this vegan coconut bacon is made with 5 easy ingredients and is ready in less than 30 minutes!

Coconut bacon! Have you heard of it?
I’ve had coconut bacon multiple times at vegan restaurants and I couldn’t wait to make some at home! Most recipes you see online are made from very similar ingredients like tamari, maple syrup, liquid smoke and smoked paprika-all necessary for that classic bacon flavor! It took me a few tries but finally I was able to come up with a good ratio of those ingredients to mask the coconut flavor and transform the coconut flakes into crispy savory smokey bacon!
You won’t find a lot of faux meat recipes on my blog- I really never liked meat (one of the biggest reasons I stopped eating it) and I don’t miss it at all. Thankfully, there’s tons of recipes on the internet for when you are looking for a meat substitute! Although, with that being said, this vegan coconut bacon is SO GOOD and perfect for when you are craving bacon, or just if you want a tasty savory topping on toast, salad, sandwiches, etc!

One of my favorite ways to enjoy this vegan coconut bacon is making an avocado BLT toast with a little vegan mayo, mashed avocado, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, basil and some black pepper as seen on my Instagram. I highly recommend trying it this way- SO delicious and filling!
It’s so easy to make and it’s ready in less than 30 minutes, start to finish.
Tips for Making Vegan Coconut Bacon
-Watch is super closely! The first time I made this, I burnt it SO bad because it went from done to burnt way too fast.
-Make sure to buy UNSWEETENED coconut flakes. These are the ones I use (also called coconut chips)
-On that note, buy coconut flakes, not shredded coconut. Coconut flakes will resemble bacon bits.
-Let it cool completely before eating! It will crisp up more as it cools.
How to Make
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Then, add all of the ingredients to a medium bowl and stir well.

Lay the coconut bacon on the baking sheet in an even layer and bake on the middle rack for 7 minutes. Then, remove from the oven, flip, and bake for another 7-8 minutes until the coconut starts to turn a deep golden brown color and the edges look crispy.
This will result in some chewier pieces and some crispier pieces. Bake a little less for more chewy, or bake a little more for more crispy pieces.
Note: watch this very closely because the coconut bacon can burn very fast!
